November Tarot Reading

November Reading

"November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.

With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.

The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring."

-  Elizabeth Coatsworth

To celebrate this new month, I have drawn three cards with the enquiry:  what shall I be aware of this month?

This is what the Tarot showed to me:

Ace of Wands:  Aces are the first card of each suit, and typically symbolize new beginnings.  Wands are associated with the element of Fire.  See this card as a new spark, a light turning on, a burst of inspiration.  Traditionally, this wand is depicted as a gift from a mysterious hand.  How can you find the gift of inspiration?  What rituals can you set up for yourself so that you can ensure the gift of inspiration to be discovered by you?  Perhaps you set aside time to meditate, vision, paint, or mind map.

This card usually signifies that something new is about to come into your life.  Perhaps it's the new ritual mentioned above, or something else that brings you creative bliss.  If you are debating whether to start something new, this card is a resounding "yes!" to your question.

The Ace of Wands is full if energy, vitality, and even sexual energy.  Use this prana or life force to fuel your creative fire.

The mantra for this card is "I am open to creative breakthroughs."  Repeat that to yourself through out the day this month.

Daughter of Wands: The Daughters are more commonly known as Pages.  Pages are traditionally messengers, and as the first of court cards in a suit, also hint at new beginnings, much like our Ace.  As a fiery page, this card works with the beginning of projects and announcements.

What do you have to say to the world?  What announcement do you have to make?  What truth do you have to speak?  Perhaps your truth is in a new style of art, or trying something that you may have held back on in the past.  Are you the messenger, in this situation?

This Page is ready to explore, a free-spirit, and has a child-like wonder to the world.  Can you approach the day with a state of awe? How might that shift things for you?  What might you discover if you look at everything with a curious mind?

The mantra for this card is "I express myself with the freedom of a child."  Try it, even if just for a day.

Seven of Cups: Tying everything together, the Seven of Cups speaks to our creative hearts as well.  This card gives you full permission to daydream. This card asks, "what is your fantasy?"  Envision it.  Honor your needs.  Attach emotion to your dreams, and notice the power that they have.

Take time to notice where your mind wanders throughout the day.  When you aren't focused on work and you allow yourself to relax, what does your mind ponder?  How can you shift your thoughts to more positive things?  Can you find joy in the little things in life?  Can you release worry and hold onto bliss instead?

The mantra for this card is "I am open to big dreams."  Dream big, go large.

Over-arching theme:  Inspiration | Discovery | Imagination - these three words are written down on a little post-it note and attached to my computer monitor.  These words will guide me this month.  Come along with me.  Let's be inspired.  Let's discover.  Let's imagine.  The world is full of unlimited possibility and potential.  There's magic to be made.
